The 19th General Assembly of WAREG - European Water Regulators, the Association of European water regulators, gathered under the chairmanship of prof. Andrea Guerrini, Board Member of ARERA-Italian Regulatory Authority on Energy Networks and Environment.
On the agenda, the in-depth analysis on the tariff methods applied by WAREG Member regulatory agencies and on the complete application of the full cost recovery principle in Europe.
WAREG Members are discussing this analysis at a roundtable with the World Bank and the OECD, in Budapest, hosted by the Hungarian Energy and Public Utility Regulatory Authority.
A full report on tariffs in Europe will be presented by WAREG during the first European Forum on the Regulation of Water Services, which will be held in Rome on December 3rd with the participation of representatives of the European Commission, the OECD and other international organizations, as well as with European stakeholder associations.
Therefore, the exchange of experiences continues to increase knowledge and convergence towards a model based on common principles that take into account the peculiarities of the Member States, according to a "contingent" approach to regulation.

More than 20 Regulatory Authorities for water and wastewater services met for the 18th General Assembly of WAREG, the Association of European Water Regulators, hosted by the National Commission for Energy Control and Prices of Lithuania (NCC) in Vilnius.
A report was presented on the role of economic regulators in addressing the capital investment challenges faced by water and wastewater services utilities, that identified a number of key drivers of investment in water infrastructures in Europe, such as: security, sustainability and resilience of water supply, effective wastewater treatment and compliance with environmental standards, appropriate water quality with respect to EU environmental standards, ageing and/or inadequate infrastructure.

WAREG - held its last General Assembly for 2018 on 25 September in Montenegro (Budva) and it reached its 16th meeting. This General Assembly was kindly hosted by the Energy Regulatory Authority (REGAGEN).
The new President of WAREG was nominated, Professor Andrea Guerrini, Commissioner for ARERA, the Italian Regulatory Authority for Energy, Networks and Environment. Mr Alberto Biancardi, past President, stepped down. Professor Guerrini has joined WAREG Board made up by 4 Vice Presidents: Katherine Russell (WICS, Scotland), Szilvia Szalóki (HEA, Hungary), Anthony Sammut (REWS, Malta) and Dimitar Kochkov (EWRC, Bulgaria).

The World Water Forum is the world’s biggest water-related event and is organized by the World Water Council (WWC), the international organization that brings together all those interested in the theme of water.
The World Water Council organizes the Forum every three years together with the respective host country and city. To date, there have been seven editions of the World Water Forum, in different countries, on four different continents. This year has marked the 8th edition of the event and the first time that it took place in the southern hemisphere.
