BRUGEL, the Brussels regulatory authority in the fields of electricity, gas and water price control approves the tariff proposals of VIVAQUA and HYDRIA (formerly SBGE). These new tariffs, fair and equitable, guarantee an efficient and sustainable service for all Brussels residents.
As a neutral actor and independent of the Government, BRUGEL has taken into account both the needs of operators and the economic reality of water users. The objective is to find the right balance in order to set tariffs at an acceptable level while making up for the historical under-investment in the water sector.
This decision makes it possible on the one hand to ensure that the service provided to Brussels households remains exemplary and on the other hand to finance all the costs borne by the water operators as well as their investments validated by the government.
These rates are also based on new general conditions of VIVAQUA also validated on December 7 by BRUGEL. These are the result of a long collaborative work between the operator and BRUGEL and represent an important step forward in terms of protecting users while clarifying the missions incumbent on VIVAQUA. Water operators are now switching to a regulated system with an objective and neutral regulator who sets fair and equitable tariffs.
