WATERUN & Water Governance 2027 Synergy Group – EFRWS25

The afternoon of EFRWS25 was dedicated to EU-funded innovation on water governance and resilience. It started with WATERUN, which presented new research and policy insights on managing urban water runoff through Water-Sensitive Urban Design and improved regulatory frameworks. It was followed by the WaterGovernance2027 Synergy Group, where the Horizon Europe projects InnWater, GOVAQUA and RETOUCH NEXUS discussed how economic instruments and governance reforms can strengthen Europe’s water resilience under the EU Water Resilience Strategy.

The Forum was organised in a hybrid format on 4 December 2025, from 9.00 to 16.30, at the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium, Rue du Musée / Museumstraat 9, 1000 Brussels.

About EFRWS

EFRWS is the European Forum on the Regulation of Water Services.

It’s the first multi-stakeholder conference focused entirely on economic regulation in the drinking water and wastewater sector, currently in its 4th Edition.

The 3rd Forum, held in 2023 spotlighted EU Green Deal water reforms. The 2nd Forum,  held in 2021, concentrated on the green transition and circular economy in the water sector. The inaugural Forum in 2019, in Rome, initiated discussions on water governance and sustainability.
